Est. down a side street in Freo

Coffee worth crossing town for.

Small-batch roasting, silky filter, and a jaffle worth the queue. Folk & Filter has been keeping Fremantle caffeinated since 2019.

On the menu: FLAT WHITE, BATCH BREW, JAFFLE, ALMOND CROISSANT, COLD BREW, LONG BLACK, FILTER OF THE DAY, SEASONAL TART

The roastery

We roast it.
We brew it.
We drink it too.

Folk & Filter started as a side project in a spare room. Two friends, one roaster, and way too many bags of green beans from Ethiopia, Colombia and Java. Somehow it became a cafe.

We roast on site, twice a week, in small batches. Every coffee on our bar comes from a producer we have chosen deliberately, and we cup everything before it goes on the menu.

what regulars say

Genuinely the best flat white in Freo. The staff know your order after two visits and the almond croissants are dangerously good.

I come here for the filter coffee and stay for the vibe. The beans I take home are always fresh and beautifully roasted.

Folk and Filter is my go-to for a slow weekend breakfast. The mushroom toast is incredible and the coffee is always excellent.

Fremantle

A properly good roastery cafe. The filter bar is the highlight, and the staff know their stuff without being precious about it.
